Receiving college credit for AP scores is advantageous for students, so most taking AP classes will take the AP exams in the hopes of receiving credits that can be applied to their college transcripts. AP exams are typically scheduled for the first two weeks of May (see schedule below); however, CollegeBoard is offering some alternative options given the uncertainty of COVID’s impact continuing into Spring 2021.
Because they’re not typically added to an official transcript, students have the option of including AP scores when they’re filling out their college applications. AP scores are occasionally used by colleges after a student is accepted to waive prerequisite requirements and place freshmen into classes.
Students must contact their school’s AP Coordinator if they require any special circumstances for AP testing – for example having two tests scheduled for the same day and time. Late testing uses an alternative version of the AP exam and is typically scheduled one week after the originally scheduled testing day.
Good luck on your AP Exams!
